TRiM PROJECTS

Gippsland Community Power Hub

Partner in the Gippsland Community Power Hub (funded by Sustainability Victoria from July 2021 through August 2022).

What we do

The Gippsland Community Power Hub was established as a ‘whole of Gippsland’ hub for progressing understanding, availability, and support for renewable energy installations across the whole of Gippsland’s 6 Local Government Areas. Mallacoota was a partner organisation with the Gippsland Climate Change Network from the Latrobe Valley and the Energy Innovation Cooperative from Phillip Island. When direct funding stopped, the Governance Group chose to continue meeting to keep the ‘Gippsland-wide’ thinking and support going where we could.

Benefits

Why we do it
Between July 2021 and August 2022 GCPH funded and installed 14 renewable energy projects across Gippsland.
Installation of a 22kW solar system ‘behind the meter’ at our water treatment plant.
Currently provide most of East Gippsland Water’s daytime energy needs for treatment of our town’s water.

Outcomes

What we work towards

Results

Our project began producing energy on 2 March 2022.

Reduction of CO2 emissions

In the last 14 months (to 11 May 2023) the system has provided EGWater with 34.95MWh of renewable energy and avoided 18.53 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Income

Providing TRiM with income to put toward future projects.

GCPH Governance

The broader GCPH governance group meets monthly to continue Gippsland-wide thinking and collaboration to support further community energy projects.

Want to help or have a question?

TRiM, whilst involved in this ongoing effort, is still a small volunteer group. Your donations’ support would enable us to more quickly plan and execute both local and broader renewable energy projects.
